WE ARE CHILDREN OF GOD

Hey everyone! Life just keeps tickin´! Life is going great here in Honduras! These week we were super busy.

On Wednessday we went to San Pedro, and a seventy, Elder Cordón came with his wife. We had an awesome conference, and I was able to learn so much. Then we had another reunion with Elder Cordón on Friday with the zone leaders, so we were only able to work tuesday, thursday, and saturday of this week. On sunday we also had to travel to help other elders with some stuff.

It is pretty crazy so far here in Puerto. I still feel like I havn´t quite gotten into a rythm. We have to travel a lot, and it´s dificult at times balencing the time between investigadores, members, and the zone. But I know that God helps us out. Specifically my companion and I have really been reflecting on what we need to do to help accelerate the work here in our zone and the choloma stake. We were able to learn a lot from Elder Cordón, and are excited to put it into practice!

Just to give some highlights of the most important thing I learned;

1- 99.9% obedience is not enough

I feel as though this was the lesson most important I was able to learn, and I realized how much work I have to do. Elder Cordón shared with us the story of Moses, and what happened to him when he talked with God face to face. God explained first and for most, "Though art my son" (Moses 1:4). Then following this God shows moses all that he has created. Here we see that we truly are children of God, and we truly have devine potential. Yet following this scene, the presence of God withdraws from moses and moses says, "Now for this cause I know that man is nothing" (Moses 1:10). And imediately following, satan comes to tempt moses saying, "Moses, son of man, worship me" (Moses 1:12). But, Moses having seen God, and knowing the potential he has and knowing his true identity, Moses told satan, Who art thou? For behold, I am a son of God (Moses 1:13)

What we learn from this story, as Elder Cordón tought, is we are indeed Sons of man, and man is nothing. Yet, we are also sons of God, and God is everything, he is God. We are free to chose our destiny. We are free to choose to be sons of man, an enemy to God, or, we can yield to the enticings of the Holy Spirit, and put off the natural man and become a sain (a son of God) through the atonement of Christ the Lord, and become as a child... willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon us (Mosiah 3:19).

We must be exactly obedienct! We must put of the natural man. We must be like Moses, cast satan away, we must see who we truly are! WE ARE CHILDREN OF GOD! He is our father. We can become like him!

I, like each of you have weaknesses. I am far from perfect. But for this purpose God sent his only beggoten son! We can do this! God, our father wants us to do this! He wants to see us repent, he wants to see us change, he wants to see us put of the natural man. He want that because he knows it´s the only way to happiness. And God has said, "no unclean thing can enter into his kingdom" (3 Nephi 27:19). We must be cleansed through our savior and redeamer, by becoming as a child, and putting of the natural man, saying no to satan.

Our beloved apostle Paul put it this way, "Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty" (2 Corinthians 6:17-18).

I know this is the truth! I am extremely thankful for my savior! I am thankful that through him I may be cleansed, I may put of the natural man, and I may become a saint. I know that I am a Child of God. I have devine potential, and I can and will be like him. It is my choice, and I have chosen. I now invite each of you to choose wisely!

I love you all! I know this is the truth! I know God lives, he is our father, he sent his Son, and his son, even Jesus Christ truly died and was then ressurected for you and me. I also testify that God the father and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith in 1820 and did indeed restore the truth to the earth. The Book of Mormon is the evidence and is true!

I love you all!

Eternal Life

Hola! I hope everyone is having a fantstic day! I am doing great! This week was a great week! And Today has been an excelent day.

The Highlight of this week was a activity we did stake wide. We had a Devocional with all the Returned Missionaries and missionaries. The Stake president, Mission President, and an Area Seventy were present. We were able to present an activity challenge. The chalenge was that each return missionary give a referance to the missionaries and baptize a friend, familiy member, or acosiate in 2 months. Elder Hernandez the seventy spoke about the importance of referencas and missionary work for not only 1.5 or 2 years, but a life time, and also talked about how missionaries are called to teach the gospel, to find is the duty of all members of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter day Saints.

Something that really called my atencion of what he said is we as members of Christ´s church are not here to teach salvation, we are here to teach Eternal Life. Thanks to Christ, each and every one of us will be saved, we will be resurected. Yet, to live with God and our families we must make and do the correct covanents and ordinances through the power and authority of God which is only found in his church that was restored through the prohpet Joseph Smith. I solemnly testify that God lives, as well as his Son Jesus Christ. That Juan the Baptist appeared, visited, and restored the Aaronic Priesthood to Joseph Smith, and later, Peter, James, and John, to restore the Melchizedek Priesthood. I testify that through Jesus Christ we are saved, and through following him, and making covanents with him, and being changed through him will we recieve Eternal Life.

As gospel topics teaches, "Eternal life is the phrase used in scripture to define the quality of life that our Eternal Father lives. The Lord declared, "This is my work and my glory—to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man" (Moses 1:39). Immortality is to live forever as a resurrected being. Through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, everyone will receive this gift. Eternal life, or exaltation, is to live in God's presence and to continue as families (see D&C 131:1–4). Like immortality, this gift is made possible through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. However, to inherit eternal life requires our "obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel" (Articles of Faith 1:3)." (Gospel Topics - Eternal Life).

I testify that God is our Father! He loves us! I wants to see us happy, and this is the only way. That we change and become like him. "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom though hast sent" (John 17:3). Of this I testify!

I love you all! I pray for you all! I believe in you all! Have a great week!

The Gift of Change

Hey everyone! Life is going great here in Honduras! I can´t believe how time flies. I love being here and am learning so much!

This week we had boundry changes in the ward, so my companion and I went to a new place called travesia. It is about 20 minutes from puerto on bus. It was pretty cool. It is basically a town with a high population of african americans. It´s definatly got a different culture, and many of the people there speak Spanish, as well as a native dielect called garifuna. We were able to find some cool people, and how to return this week.

Other then that were are continuing to work hard. This week I have really been greateful for Jesus Christ and the Atonement.

I have been thinking alot lately about the plan of Happiness and the central piece that Jesus Christ plays in that plan. In 3 Nephi 27:19-20 Jesus Christ tought,

"And no unclean thing can enter into his kingdom..."

In other words, as Christ has tought us, if we are not perfect as he and his father are perfect, or clean as him and his father are clean, we can not enter into there kingdom. Yet, because God loves us, he sent his son Jesus Christ (John 3:16). And Christ continues,

"...therefore nothing entereth into his rest save it be those who have washed their garments in my blood, becuase of their faith, and the repentance of all their sins, and their faithfulness unto the end. Now this is the commandment: Repent, all ye ends of the earth, and come unto me and be baptized in my name, that ye may be sanctified by the reception of the Holy Ghost, that ye may stand spotless (clean) before me at the last day."

What a blessing! Through Christ, even though we are not perfect yet, we can repent, we can change, and we can still be made clean. Thanks to Christ we are given a time to prepare. I solemnly testify that this Change, Repentance is possible through christ! Personly, I have many weaknesses, I am not perfect, I am far from it. But thanks to my savior and redeamer, our brother Jesus Christ I know that I can repent. I can Change, and over time my weaknesses can be made strenghts. (Ether 12:27).

God loves us! Who knows what will make us happy, and he knows wickedness never was happiness (Alma 41:10). For this reason he sent his son and has called the world to repentance. It is the blessing he has given us which is the only true way to happiness.

In the Book of Mormon the prophet Alma was teaching of Jesus Christ and this gift he has offered it.

"Yea, I say unto you come and fear not, and lay aside every sin, which easily doth beset you, which doth bind you down to destruction, yea, come and go forth, and show unto your God that ye are willing to repent (Change) of your sins and enter into a covenant with him to keep his commandments, and witness it unto him this day by going into the waters of babtism (Alma 7:15)

And then comes the blessing in verse 16, "And whosever doeth this, and keepeth the commandments of God from thenceforth... he shall have eternal life."

This is the Gospel of Jesus Christ! This is the plan of Happiness our Father in Heavan has for us! I testify of Him! I testify of his son Jesus Christ, he payed for our sins, to offer us the gift of Repentance (Change)! With all the love of my heart I invite each of you, along with myself, with the prophet Alma of the Book of mormon to repent! To change!

I love you all!

Life Continues

Hey everyone! Life is good in Honduras! I am enjoying my new area and continuing to learn lots. This week was a verry good week! We were able to find a lot of new people to teach, and are very busy with all the many investigadors we have.

On thursday we had divisions with the AP´s, and that was pretty cool. Other then that there isn´t a whole lot new. The work just keeps going forward! My Companion is super awesome, and we are getting along great! It is super hot here in Puerto, and I am adjusting. The cool thing is in our room in our house we have air condicioning, but in the middle of the night leaving our room is like stepping into a sauna.

I love this work and am so thankful for this gospel! I am so thankful for Jesus Christ! What a blessing it is for each of us to have the oppurtunity to repent, to pregress, and to build a spiritual house brick by brick! I know that Christ lives! I know he loves me, and each of us! This is his church!

I love you all!
