"Ye do well that ye take heed!"

Hey everyone! Life is going just great here in Puerto! My companion and I are working as hard as ever, and we are enjoying our time together. Elder Chavarría is super awesome, and he makes me want to be so much better. This week found a ton of people, and we have just been teaching like crazy. On sunday we had José Roberto Armijo come to church for the second time. We had a baptismal date with him, but found out he is not married, so we will continue working with him so he can get married. We also had Cyntia and her son Kelvin. They are a great family. Her husband, Albert also had an interview last week for a new job so he can keep the sabath day holy and go to church on sundays. They are going to married and baptized in November. Also Jade, the sister of the bishop came to church for the second time! She is preparing for her baptism. She is going to be baptized the 5th of October! It is such a joyful experience to invite and help people come unto Christ! There is so much work to do here!

Sunday my companion and I both talked in Church. Elder Chavarría gave a great talk about missionary work, and 6 tools we can use to help us help others learn about the restored gospel and invite others to come unto Christ. What cought my atention most was he talked about being worthy and being a good example. I feel that is key!

I talked about the importance of leaders and revelation. I am so thankful for Prophets and Apostoles and lider´s who recieve revelation and direction to guide us as we follow Jesus Christ. Like the time of the Apostle in the New Testament Peter said,

"We have also a more sure word of Prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed... For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost" (2 Peter 1:19-21).

I know that like times of old we have prophet and apostles here on the earth. Jesus Christ is guiding his church through his servants! We do well if we take heed. I want to invite each of you to take heed. Listen to what these holy men have to tell us as they are moved by the Holy Ghost. Saturday and Sunday of this week! I love the General Conference! I know that God wants each of us to be there!

I love you all!

Hey everyone! This week has been a great week! Elder Chavarría and I are working as hard as ever. We are trying to improve everyday, and are really doing our best to talk with everyone and share the Gospel of Christ.

This week we had divisions with Elder Nolasco and Elder Mena, 2 elders in our zone. That was a lot of fun. We also had to travel to San Pedro to have divisions with the AP,s. That was also lots of fun, we were able to learn tons. I went with Elder Call! He is super awesome, and a great exmple to me.

We have a lot of investigadors, and we are working with them alot. One of them is named José Roberto Armijo, he is an older guy, and has such a strong faith in Jesus Christ. We have been talking a lot with him, and he came to church for the first time this week. He also has a baptismal date for the 5th of October. We are also teaching the sister of the Bishop. She is super awesome, and we feel like they can really progress. There is lots of work to do here!

I really love the mission! I love helping others come unto Christ! I love this area! I love my Companion. The members here are so great, and they are really helping and supporting us so much, and there are so many people who are prepared to recieve the restored gospel! I know with all my heart that this is the truth. I am so grateful to my Father in Heavan for the blessings he has poured down upon his children, and he has commanded all who have recieved to share. This gospel is the greatest Joy I have. My greatest wish and hope is that each of you, my dear friends, will try it. I know it will bless your lives, and bring the same Joy that I have along with my family.

One of thre greatest blessing we have recieved from the restored gospel is that of Eternal Families and Family History. Elder Chavarría has told me a lot of his desire to talk more about Family History with those we contact, and I have a greater desire to learn, so we can truly put it to practice. Yet, as I have started to study more, my eyes are being opened to one of the greatest blessings God has given us, and at the same time, what great work we have ahead of us, to share the gospel with all, and to help those on the other side. I still have much to learn, but I know that the families are important, and our children, and our childrens children need this gospel. Just as much as our fathers, and our fathers fathers.

I love this Gospel! I am super happy! I am loving life! I love you all so much!

John 6:33: Seek ye first the Kingdom of God

Hola everyone! Life is going just wonderful! Changes passed this last week, and Elder Santos my companion had changes. He left to finish in Florida Copan. So he will have one change in Copan, and then he goes home in October. So now I have a new companion. My new companion is Elder Chavarría! I am so excited! Him and I were in the same ward for 6 months when I started my mission in San Pedro, and we are now together here in Puerto!

It has been really good, and we have been working super hard. Him and I have been trying to find lots of new Investigadors, and we are trying to talk with everybody we can. As we have put this to practice we have truly seen some miracles. There have been many or reject the message of the restauration, but we have also seen the fulfilment of what Christ says in D&C;

"And ye are called to bring to pass the gathering of mine elect; for mine elect hear my voice and harden not their hearts" (D&C 29:7).

I have seen the fulfillment of this in these last few days. We really have been able to find the "elect". I know that this is God´s work, and that those who have been prepared, those who humble themselves and truly have the desire to follow Christ and do his will, these are they whom are elect, these are they whom will hear his voice.

It is my hope and prayer that we can all humble ourselves before the lord, so we will not harden our hearts. I feel like one of the hardest things for me as a missionary is not getting down and discouraged when people choose not to follow Christ for fear of men. Even in the scriptures we can read of those who tated of the fruit (1 Nephi 8:28), or believed in Christ (John 12:42), yet in the end they turned away. All of this because "They loved the praise of men more than the praise of God" (John 12:43).

So today, I would like to propose the question to each of you, along with myself.

Do we love the praise of men more than the praise of God?

I think this is a question we need to ask ourselves more then once, and I´m sure if we are honest with ourselves, there will always be some area in which we can improve. And if we still are not sure, I would invite you to meditate the words of King Benjamin in the Book of Mormon,

"And moreover, I say unto you, that there shall be no other name given nor any other way nor means whereby salvation can come unto the children of men, only in and through the name of Christ, the Lord Omnipotent. For behold he judgeth, and his judgement is just; and the infant perisheth not that dieth in his infancy; but men drink damnation to their own souls except they humble themselves and become as little children, and believeth that salvation was, and is, and is to come, in and through the atoning blood of Chrsit, the Lord Omnipotent. For the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been from the fall of Adam, and will be, forever and ever, unless he yields to the enticings of the Holy Spirit, and putteth off the natural man and becometh a saint through the atonement of Christ the Lord, and becometh as a Child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father. And moreover, I say unto you, that the time shall come when the knowledge of a Savior shall spread throughout every nation, kindred, tongue, and people. And behold, when that time cometh, none shall be found blameless before God, except it be little children, only through repentance and faith on the name of the Lord God Omnipotent" (Mosiah 3:17-21).

I know these things are true! The Gospel of Christ is not about what we want. It is about what He wants. The Gospel of Christ is not about doing our own will, but aligning our will with his. After all, Faith and Repentance means to Follow and Change. If we are not doing his will, as simple as it may be, I would exhort you to Change dirrections, follow him with complete trust and faith!

This is a blessing. I am not perfect. None of us are. We all fall short, but the blessing is that through Humility and Love, through complete trust and faith which leads to repentace, we can be saved, we can return home, and our mistakes and sins can be washed away.

I know this is true! Please ponder the question: Do we love the praise of men more than the praise of God? If we do, which we all do in some small or simple way, change! Let us humble ourselves bofere the Lord!

I know that the Church of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth! I know that God the Father and his son Jesus Christ visited to prophet Joseph Smith. I know that they called him as a prophet and that latter the priesthood authority was restored. Dont love the praise of men more than the praise of God. The Book of Mormon is the evidence of these truths. Humble yourself before the Lord. Read the Book, pray and ask God with all true intention to follow him, and I promise he will respond. He has done so for me, and he will do so for each of his beloved children if they will so ask in faith and humility!

I love you all with all my heart! Have an excelent week!

Charity

Hey everyone! We have had a super busy week again! All is going verry well, and my companion and I are working hard, and trying to help the work progress here in our area, as well as in the stake and zone!

On sunday we went to visit each ward with the stake mission leader, Moroni, and a return missionary hace 1.5 years. It was good, we did follow up on the return missionary activity. We are really trying to get the missionaries and the members to work. It is so important.

As I have been a missionary I have really come to understand that this is a team effort. If the members and the missionaries don´t work together it is verry difficult to have success. Yet, we are working hard, and I know that if we will all work with the members we will have a lot of success!

I love the mission so much! I was talking to my companion the other day about Charity (The pure love of Christ, not my sister haha. Love you Charity) and we were talking about how amazing it is that Christ loves each and everyone of us despite our weaknesses, yet, us as people are so quick to judge and focus on the weaknesses of others. Elder Santos then told me, "We call everyone our brothers and sisters, but we just need to treat them and truly believe they are our brothers and sisters." As I though more about it, it is really true. All of those whom I truly love, my friends, my family, I love them. I love them because I see past there weaknesses, I see there strengths, and I see and know that they can improve. If we can all learn to see all of God´s children in this way, all of our brothers and sisters we will have charity!

I am so thankful for those in my life who had Charity towards me. I am far from perfect, yet because certain people in my life could see past my weaknesses, trust and confide in me, and see what I at the moment, or in moments cannot see, I have become who I am to day, and will continue to become who God will make me tomarrow.

Charity has power! Love is the center of the gospel! For this reason Paul tought, "Though I speak with tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith,so that I could romove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing" (1 Corinthians 13:1-2).

We must develop the gift of Charity! We must learn to love others as Christ loves us. I pray that we can see past our brothers´ weaknesses and love them for their strengths, and trust in Christ´s atonement, that one day their weaknesses can become strong (Ether 12:27). Let us strive to keep the two great commandments that our Lord and Savior tought, "Though shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, though shalt love thy neighbour as thyself" (Matthew 22:37-39).

Coincidence? I don´t belive so. As my football coach would so, "Nothing happens for a reason" (Brent Walk). If we learn to love, our God as well as our fellow men, our brothers and sisters, we will "Become the sons of God; that when he shall appear we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is; that we may have this hope; that we may be purified even as he is pure" (Moroni 7:48).

I love each and every one of you! I know that these things are true! I know God lives! He is our Father! He has perfect love. He sent his son Jesus Christ who atoned for all our sins. Through him we can change, and all of as can change. Let us love, let us trust in the Atonement of Christ that we all so desperately need!

I love you my brothers and sister!
