He Lives

This week has been excelent and full of Christmas spirit! On Tuesday we had an activity in the Park to publicy the campaign of Light the World. Friday we had a Christmas Concert, and it was awesome. I sang "I know that my Redeemer Lives" the first verse in English, and the rest in spanish. The activity in the park, as well as the concert was a success. We recieved 75 references on Tuesday from many different parts of the zone, and some other parts of the mission. On Friday lots of members brought friends and it was really fun.

Elder Chavarría and I are working verry hard, and are having a lot of success. God is truly blessing us greatly.

I love being a missionary, and love sharing this Gospel. I am so grateful for my Savior Jesus Christ! "I know that my Redeemer lives. What comfort this sweet sentence gives!" (1) I am so grateful for a loving Heavenly Father who permits us to learn grow and through the atonement and grace of Jesus Christ prepare to return and stay in his presence. Through Christ and his Gospel I know we can all change, repent and prepare ourselves for that great and marvelous day.

I know that Joseph Smith is the prohpet of this last dispensation. Through him the Priesthood power was restored and many other gospel truths necesary for our salvation and exaltation.

I love you all.

Blessings

Buenos Dias! Life in Honduras continues! I love the Mission! Truly I have never been so happy. I am so grateful to my God! I love serving the Lord and I love helping others come unto Christ. This week has been a good one. Last week from thursday until monday we were stuck in our house for political uprisings, but starting tuesday this week we were able to work again with a cerfew of 5:00 PM. It was great to be able to get fresh air and teach the Gospel once again. By Friday we could leave until 7:00 PM, and now we are on normal schedule once again.

This Week Elder Chavarría and I were truly able to see some miracles as we were able to find many new people to teach, and we were able to help Carlos Chinchilla prepare for his baptism. We have also been able to start the Campaign Ligh the World! A cool story of this week is on Thursday we were contacting and praying that the Lord would would guide us and help us now where to go, and as we were walking, Elder Chavarría and I remembered an Old Investigador, who we have passed by before but wasn´t home and we decided to go look for her. When we arrived she recieved us welcomely and we put an appointment to return. When we came back friday she told us that before she was preparing to be baptized, but had to leave to San Pedro for a month or so, and when she came back she said a prayer to God that if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints really was the true church that the missionaries would come back looking for her, and then, there we were.

I know God answers our prayers! Truly I am grateful that The Holy Ghost truly guides us and leads us that we may be instruments in the hands of the Lord.

The other Highlight of the week was the Baptism of Carlos Chinchilla! He is such a great man, and truly he has such a great desire to follow Christ. He was baptized Sunday morning, and is setting the example for the rest in his family.

I love this work. I know with all my heart that God loves us. He loves me. He has truly sent his only beggoten son, even Jesus Christ that we may all repent of our sins, and prepare to return to his pressence. I am eternally grateful for my savior Jesus Christ. I am also grateful for the Priesthood, the power and authority of God, that we may recieve the ordinances in this life to prepare us, sanctify us, and purify us to become like him. I know and slolemly testify that Joseph Smith is a prohpet of God, that he is and will always be the Prohpet of this dispensation. That through him the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored in preperation for the second coming.

I love you all!

The Conditions of Repentance

Hola! I hope all is well! I am doing great! This weeke! has been a verry good one! Elder Chavarría and I are working hard. This week José Roberto Armijo was baptized! He was so excited! We are working with lots of great people. Right now we have 7 investigadors who are preparing to be Baptized. The Chinchilla family, Carlos, Jacoba, Scarlet, the Sauceda Family, Miguel, Gladys, y Miguel hijo, and Wilmer Salgado. There are all great people who have great desires to follow Christ. I love them all so much. We were also able to find another great family this last week who told us they would like to come to church. I love being a missionary and seeing how the spirit works, and the great love God us for us as his children.

This last week, I have been studying more the life of Christ, and focusing my studies in the Book of Mormon on his atonement. As I have done so, I came across a Scripture that I loved! I was reading in the Book of Helaman, and Samuel the Lamanite teaches,

"But behold, the resurrection of Christ redeemeth mankind, yea, even all mankind, and bringeth them back into the presence of the Lord" (Helaman 14:17).

Thanks to the Atonement of Christ. Thanks to the love of our Heavanly Father, as well as the love of our Lord and Savior, al of us, all mankind has been saved from the fall. We are reddeamed and will return to the presence of God. Although, Samuel continues,

"Yea, and it bringeth to pass the condition of repentance, that whosoever repenteth the same is not hewn down and cast into the fire; but whosoever repenteth not is hewn down and cast into the fire; and there cometh upon them again a spiritual death, yea, a second death, for they are cut off again as to things pertaining to righteousness.
Therefore repent ye, repent ye, lest by knowing these things and not doing them ye shall suffer yourselves to come under condemnation, and ye are brought down unto this second death" (Heleman 14:18-19).

Thanks to Christ we have been granted salvation, as well as a time to prepare ourselves to meet God. For the scriptures teach no unclean thing can dwell in his presence (3 Nephi 27:19) so if we desire to stay with him and recieve the Eternal Life we must be willing to Obey Christ and follow the conditions of Repentance, which we know as the Gospel of Jesus Christ; Having Faith in Him, Repenting of our sins, being baptized by his power and authority, recieving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring the end which includes recieving other ordenances such as recieving the priesthood for men, and going to the temple and being endowed and sealed as eternal families.

I know these things are true! I know that Jesus Christ lives! He has offered us all Eternal Life, but we must choose to follow him. We must choose to follow the conditions of repentance. I know That Joseph Smith was and is a true prophet. I know the fulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored that we might return and stay with God forever!

I love you all! It is my hope and prayer, and more so the hope and prayer of our loving Heavanly Father that we all choose to trust in him and choose Eternal Life through Jesus Christ! I love you all!

Conversion to Christ

Hey everyone! This has been another week full of adventure! Elder Chavarría and I have been super busy. All is going verry well! I am feeling lots better, and have no problems with my health. I love this work! This week I have really been trying to Learn more of Jesus Chrsit, and put him at the center of my life. I love what Elder D. Todd Christofferson said, "We do not strive for conversion to the Church but to Christ and His gospel" (Why the Church - by Elder D. Todd Christofferson). As I truly make an effort to convert myself to Christ I feel a greater desire to fallow him and a great Love and gratitud for him! I truly love my savior Jesus Christ!

I love this time of year! My two favorite Holidays. Thanksgiving and Christmas! One we celbrate thanks all around the world, and the other, the birth of our Lord and Redeemer Jesus Christ. I think it is a great time, thanksgiving, to prepare ourselves to truly appreciate and understand what Christmas is all about. This Thanksgiving I would like to invite each of you to study more about Jesus Christ with the question in mind, why am I thankful for Jesus Christ. I am sure if you do so, this Christmas you will have a greater understanding of why the birth of Jesus Chrsit is so important, and will have a greater desire to follow his perfect example by serving and loving all and LIGHTING THE WORLD

I love you all! Happy Thanksgiving! Have a great week!

"Sanctify yourselves that your minds become single to God"

Hey Everyone! I hope all is going well! Life continues here in Honduras! I am doing verry well! Elder Chavarría and I have had a week full of adventure! This week there has been tons of rain, and we have gotten wet a lot. We also helped build the floor of a house in a swap. That was fun. We also got a ride in a semi-truck, and many other adventures including that I got Hopitalized and they found that I have Kidney Stones. We are working extrremely hard, and finding wonderful people who are prepared to recieve this wonderful gospel.

I love the mission so much! I feel that truly my companion and I are so blessed. Our area is so great. There is so much work to do. The members are so good to us, and we have so many great investigadores.

In these last couple days I have been reading in the Book Heleman in the Book of Mormon, and I have noticed the great danger of pride. Sometimes, when God blesses us it is so easy to forget the source of our blessings. I have noticed, that at times, even as a missionary, I sometimes am so weak and so quickly forget the Lord. As I was reading I came to realize how I need to humble myself before the Lord, and commit myself to his work. The scripture that really called my atention was Heleman 3:35, "Nevertheless they did fast and pray oft, and did wax stronger and stronger in their humility, and firmer and firmer in the faith of Christ, unto the filling their souls with joy and consolation, yea, even to the purifying and the sanctification of their hearts, which sanctification cometh because of their yielding their hearts unto God."

What I really like about this scripture is that as we truly make an effort to remember God, or as we come unto him, he will give us the help we need. And in this way our humility will increase as well as our faith and desire to follow him and keep his commandments. And this brings sanctification, purity, which is necesary to return to Gods presence, and is only possible through Christ (3 Nephi 27:19-20). And this comes through  humility and yielding our hearts to God.

As Jesus Christ toguht us in D&C he said, "And if your eye be single to my glory, your whole bodies shall be filled with light, and there shall be no darkness in you; and that body which is filled with light comprehendeth all things. Therefore, sanctify yourselves that your minds become single to God, and the days will come that you shall see him; for he will unveil his face unto you, and it shall be in his own time, and in his own way, and according to his own will (D&C 88:67-78)."

And what is the Glory of God? God has said, "For behold, this is my work and my glory—to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man (Moses 1:39)."

As we humbly dedicate ourselves to our Father in Heavans work and Glory. As we work all our days to bring to pass the inmortality and eternal life of man, which is only possible through Christ and his Gospel; "that no man shall come unto the Father but by me or by my word, which is my law, saith the Lord (D&C 132:12)."

I know these things are true! I love this restored Gospel! I am so extremely thankful for our Savior Jesus Chrsit! It is my hope and prayer that we can dedicate ourselves to his work. That we can sanctify ourselves so we can return to his presence, and that we may show gratutud and humility to the great sacrifice of our redeemer Jesus Christ and our Father in Heavan! I love this work!

I love you all!

#lighttheworld

The work here in Puerto continues! We are being so blessed here in Puerto Cortes, and we are finding so many wonderful people who have been prepared to recieve the Gospel of Christ! Elder Chavarría and I are working hard, and all is well.

This year as members and disciples of Jesus Christ we are all invited to #lighttheworld with the light of Christ through 25 ways in 25 days. From the 1 of December until the 25th of December we are all invited to serve, lift and share of Christ light. Truly this is a great oppurtunity to bring the Joy and Light of Christ into a world that so desperately needs. My companion and I are extremely excited to light the world, and I invite you all to join us!

Why do we need the light of Christ? According to Gospel topics in lds.org we read, "The Light of Christ is the divine energy, power, or influence that proceeds from God through Christ and gives life and light to all things. The Light of Christ influences people for good and prepares them to receive the Holy Ghost" (Light of Christ).

I know that we all need the Light of Christ! I love you all! I know Jesus Christ lives! He is the light of the world! Jesus Chrsit said, "I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life" (John 8:12). Let us light the world but serving as Christ would serve, loving as Christ would love, and most importantly, inviting all to come unto Christ, that they shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.

I love you all! Have a great week!

The JOY of the Gospel!

Helo everyone! Life is going absolutely fantastic! I love being a missionary, and can honestly say I have never been so happy! If I could explain the way I feel as I missionary, the way I feel when I teach of Christ, the way I feel when I feel the spirit in a lesson, the way I feel as I read and study the scriptures and learn of the Doctrine of Christ, I would use one word: JOY!

I love a scripture in The Book of Mormon that explains perfectly the way I feel, Alma says,

"I know that which the Lord hath commanded me, and I glory in it. I do anot bglory of myself, but I glory in that which the Lord hath commanded me; yea, and this is my glory, that perhaps I may be an instrument in the hands of God to bring some soul to repentance; and this is my joy.

And behold, when I see many of my brethren truly penitent, and coming to the Lord their God, then is my soul filled with joy; then do I remember awhat the Lord has done for me, yea, even that he hath heard my prayer; yea, then do I remember his merciful arm which he extended towards me" (Alma 29:9-10).

My Companion and I are being blessed, and truly God has permitted us to be an instrument in his hands to bring some souls to repentance. This week Jade Motiño, the Bishops sister was baptized! It was one of the most joyful experiences, and truly the Holy Ghost was manifested! Following the ordinance, The bishops son, Moises, and his girlfriend sang, and then Bishop and Jade shared there thoughts and feelings. The spirit was so strong, and it made all the sacrifice worth it!

After the Baptism I was talking to my companion. I told him, you know, after feeling the spirit so strong, and having such great joy to see people come unto Christ, it makes everything worth it. Leaving your family, your house, your friends, football, basketball, cars, movies, phones, girls. None of it really matters! The joy is so great! This week it has rained every day, and every day when we got home we were soked, and every day my feat got wet. They got so wet, that in the night I couldn´t wait to get to the house so I could take of my shoes and rest my feat. But after the Joy, the Joy that comes through repentance, it no longer mattered!

I love this Gospel with all my heat! I love each and every one of you! I know that the Joy and Happiness we are all looking for comes through repentance and fallowing Christ! This is truly the work of God! I´m sure of it! I know it! How? The spirit tells me, everytime I pray, every time I read the scriptures, every time I go to church, the spirit testifies the truthfulness of it! How can each of us now for ourselves? We must do the things that God tells us to, so the spirit can tell us it´s right. This is Faith! To act, to obey, to look for Christ by fallowing him. In this way, we invite and open our hearts to the spirit, and then we will know! I know these things are true! I love you all with all my heart! Thanks for all your prayers and support!

Hope for Eternal Life

This has been a excelent week! Truly I have been and am being so blessed as a missionary. I love serving the lord and his children. I love this gospel. The work is progressing wondrefully. Elder Chavarría and I are working so hard, and we are having great success. We found another great family this last week, and we are super excited to teach them more. This week we will have the Baptism of Jade Motiño, the sister of the bishop. She is so ready and excited to make this promise with God. We also have scheduled a baptism with Familia Sauceda! I am so excited for them. It has been a verry special expereince, because they have such a great desire to follow Christ, and as they read and pray, the spirit truly testifies to them of the truth of this Gospel!

I love missionary work! I love sharing this Gospel! I love the scripture in 2 Nephi 2:8, "Wherefore, how great the importance to make these things known unto the inhabitants of the earth, that they may know that there is no flesh that can dwell in the presence of God, asave it be through the merits, and mercy, and grace of the Holy Messiah, who blayeth down his life according to the flesh, and taketh it again by the power of the Spirit, that he may bring to pass the cresurrection of the dead, being the first that should rise." I am grateful that God has permitted me to be a part of this teaching. I am also extremely graterful for the restored Gospel, and the truths we have been given, and the knowledge of the true purpose of Christ suffereing, that we may all repent, come unto him and be perfected by our faith and repentance and by his grace.

As Moroni teaches, "Yea, acome unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God" (Moroni 10:32). I know that this is the purpose we have. God has sent us to this life, and has sent his only begotten son to "bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man" (Moses 1:39) that we may be perfected, that we may become like him!

I feel such gratitud and humility to feel the love of God, and such a great desire to improve. I truly love the Gospel! I love our Father in Heavan! I love my Savior! I know that these things are true. All God asks of us is that we have faith in his Son Jesus Christ, trust and fallow him, repent of our sins, make and keep covanents (Promises) and endure, being faithful until the end.

Do we trust God? Do we trust Christ? Are we willing to put our faith and hope in his "Great commandments; and be faithful unto his words, and choose eternal life" (2 Nephi 2:28)?

I testify and believe with all my heart the words of Moroni, "Wherefore, whoso believeth in God might with surety hope for a better world, yea, even a place at the right hand of God, which hope cometh of faith, maketh an anchor to the souls of men, which would make them sure and steadfast, always abounding in good works, being led to glorify God" (Ether 12:4).

Let us have Faith, and therefore hope for a better world. Even a perfect world, where we may partake of eternal life! I love you all! This is true! I know these things are true!

Testimony

Helo everyone! This has been a great and busy week! This week we had our Zone Conference, and also another reunion in San Pedro. They were great, and once again we were able to learn so much. As for the work it is continuing to advance. Truly we have seen miracles, and have seen how the leard leads us to those whom are prepared to recieve his restorered gospel.

We are working verry hard with Family Brown, Family Lozano Sol, Family Sauceda, Family Motiño and José Roberto. This week we had a lot of them come to church. It is such a blessing and brings such great Joy to see the people with whom we are working feel the spirit and have thier faith grow. I love these people so much! I love sharing the Gospel.

Truthfully there is som much work to do! There are so many people who need to learn and hear of the Church of Christ. I am privlaged and grateful to a part of this work. I love my savir Jesus Christ! I love being a misionary.

Yesterday in Church we had our fast and testimony meating, and many people shared thier testimony of Jesus Christ and the Book of Mormon, another testament of Jesus Christ. Today I would like to share my testimony.

I know that Jesus Chrsit is my Savior. I know that my Father in Heavan lives. He created a perfect plan for each of us that we might be happy and have joy. This plan includes this life, and the necesity of a savior, even Jesus Chrsit. I know that only through Faith and Repentance in his name can we find the happiness and joy that our father in Heavan hopes and prayes that we find. I know that all prophets from the beggining of times have been called of God to teach this plan and invite all humankind to repent and folllow christ. The Book of Mormon and the Bible are evidence of the profetic calling, and I know that today we having living prophets who do the same. They testify of Christ and teach the plan of Salvacion and invite us to follow him.

I know that these things are true! I love you all!

Trust, Love, and Stay Firm through The Book of Mormon

Hey everyone! I hope all is going well for each of you. As for me all is excelent! Elder Chavarría and I are working hard as ever. We thoroughly enjoyed the General Conference and the words of our inspired leader. I am so grateful for the prophets and apostles and that God has called them in this work, and he leads and directs them that they may guide us in this lifes Journy back to our Heavanly Home.

My Companion and I have continued to talk with all those we can to share this special Gospel message with the world, and continue to work with those who have a true and sincere desire to learn and humbly follow Christ. A cool story of this week is on Friday Elder Chavarría and I were walking down the street when we saw an older couple sitting outside there house and we felt the impresion to stop and speek with them. We asked if we could rest and speak with them a little, and sat down and started to talk. We ended up talking about the Book of Mormon and the key role it plays in the restoration of the truth of the Doctrine of Christ and a powerful testimony of Him. They showed a lot of interest, and the Spirit was verry strong. We invited them to the General Conference to listen to the Prophets and Apostles of Christ in these latter days, they said they would come Sunday Morning. Then on Sunday they came, and after the session they said, "We loved it! We will be here again next week!" Elder Chavarría and I are so excited for them, and we know they have truly felt the spirit. I know there are so many people who are prepared to recieve this Gospel, and all people need it. I truly love my Savior, and I love our God! He has truthfuly created a amazing plan, and has offered as everything through his mercy and love. Elder Chavarría and I are seeing so many miracles, and we will continue to work! We had a lot of people come to the Conference, and we are grateful to our Father in Heavan who has permited us to help bring his children home.

As for the Conference. This was a spiritual feast (Manjar)! I love the General Conference! I was able to learn so much and feel the spirit, and I know that these men have been called of God to lead his Church in the last days. For me personaly there are 3 points to this conference that stood out,

1: Trust in the Lord and Fallow him.
2: Turn outward through Charity and Service.
3: The Book of Mormon is the Key.

I feel that truly God trust us so much, but we are so slow to put our full trust in him, this includes full trust in those he calls in his work. I also enjoyed the words of Elder Chrsitofferson who shared the scripture, "He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him" (John 6:48, 56). He then went on to teach, "To eat His flesh and drink His blood is a striking way of expressing how completely we must bring the Savior into our life—into our very being—that we may be one"

It also called my atention the verry many times we were tought about the importance in Serving to truly show Christilike love, also know as Charity. I loved what Elder Alonso said , "Love without service is like faith without works; it's dead indeed." I also think that Sister Oscarson was inspired as she tought us to begin our service with those all around us, she tought, "How much value is there in fixing the world if the people around us are falling apart and we don't notice? Heavenly Father may have placed those who need us closest to us, knowing that we are best suited to meet their needs." We have so many opurtunities to serve each and every day. We just need to take the time to look around us and love our fellow men.

I also loved the focus that was put on the Book of Mormon and follow up from what President Thomas S. Monson tought last Conference. I enjoyed most thoroughly the Promise and testimony given by President Nelson, "My dear brothers and sisters, I promise that as you prayerfully study the Book of Mormon every day, you will make better decisions—every day. I promise that as you ponder what you study, the windows of heaven will open, and you will receive answers to your own questions and direction for your own life." I know that this promise is true. I also enjoyed the words of Elder Callister who tought, "The Book of Mormon is not only the keystone of our religion, but it can also become the keystone of our testimonies so that when trials or unanswered questions confront us, it can hold our testimonies securely in place." In these days we need to continue and stay firm. Satan is working harder then ever to bring misery and sadness into our lifes, and the Book of Mormon is the key to keep us firm in the only path that leads to true and everlasting happiness.

I bear my solemn testimony that these men are and have been called of God. That the words they spoke were truly the words that Christ himself feels we need. I testify that Jesus Christ is the savior of the World, that God is our Father, and The Holy Ghost will lead us and guide us home if we will yield to his enticings and put of the natural man. I testify that the Priesthood Power has been restored so the Atoning Power of Jesus Christ can be accessible. I believe and know these things to be true!

I love each and every one of you with all my heart!

"Ye do well that ye take heed!"

Hey everyone! Life is going just great here in Puerto! My companion and I are working as hard as ever, and we are enjoying our time together. Elder Chavarría is super awesome, and he makes me want to be so much better. This week found a ton of people, and we have just been teaching like crazy. On sunday we had José Roberto Armijo come to church for the second time. We had a baptismal date with him, but found out he is not married, so we will continue working with him so he can get married. We also had Cyntia and her son Kelvin. They are a great family. Her husband, Albert also had an interview last week for a new job so he can keep the sabath day holy and go to church on sundays. They are going to married and baptized in November. Also Jade, the sister of the bishop came to church for the second time! She is preparing for her baptism. She is going to be baptized the 5th of October! It is such a joyful experience to invite and help people come unto Christ! There is so much work to do here!

Sunday my companion and I both talked in Church. Elder Chavarría gave a great talk about missionary work, and 6 tools we can use to help us help others learn about the restored gospel and invite others to come unto Christ. What cought my atention most was he talked about being worthy and being a good example. I feel that is key!

I talked about the importance of leaders and revelation. I am so thankful for Prophets and Apostoles and lider´s who recieve revelation and direction to guide us as we follow Jesus Christ. Like the time of the Apostle in the New Testament Peter said,

"We have also a more sure word of Prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed... For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost" (2 Peter 1:19-21).

I know that like times of old we have prophet and apostles here on the earth. Jesus Christ is guiding his church through his servants! We do well if we take heed. I want to invite each of you to take heed. Listen to what these holy men have to tell us as they are moved by the Holy Ghost. Saturday and Sunday of this week! I love the General Conference! I know that God wants each of us to be there!

I love you all!
